WMC Soloist Wins Columbus Invitational Arts Competition

Oboist Teil Buck represented WMC in the recent Columbus Invitational Arts Competition, which took place at the Columbus Downtown High School on Thursday, September 20. This year’s Invitational was an All Stars celebration, bringing together local artists who have participated in previous years and showed exemplary artistic collaborations. Women in Music Columbus was partnered with Creative Women of Color, a collective of African American women artists whose mission is to educate, encourage, inspire and provide a creative connection with the community for the purpose of advancing the arts. This collaboration was named Team Wisdom. After meeting Pepper, the artist from Creative Women of Color, Teil developed an innovative program featuring African American Female Composers’ works which she reimagined and arranged for Oboe and Looping Pedal. Teil won First Place for the entire event based on depth of work and creativity.
