“Ohio Connection” – Sundays at the Huntington featured composer, Wendy Loomis

Join Women in Music Columbus on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3pm for “Ohio Connection”. This recital will feature works by women composers who have an “Ohio Connection”. Featured composer on February 23, will be Wendy Loomis. Ms. Loomis will be speaking about her composition at this event.

“Composer/pianist Wendy Loomis paints with a broad palette of jazz, classical, new age, avant garde and world colors, fusing styles ranging from Debussy to Thelonious Monk.” (Kelley Dolan, NoHands Records)

Wendy LoomisWendy Loomis is a San Francisco-based composer who has won the ASCAP award for composition 4 times, released 10 CDs, and has performed with various ensembles in San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Beijing, Boston, Pittsfield, Atlanta, and Austin. In December 2013 Wendy performed one of her piano compositions in Havana, Cuba as part of the Composers’ Salon at the Union Nacional de Escritores y Artistas.

Wendy is the co-founder of an independent music label; produces “Poets & Composers” (a monthly house concert series); performs with ensembles COPUS, Phoenix Rising, AWE; teaches piano; and leads a drumming as meditation group. She earned her BA in Creative Arts from Denison University and her MA in Arts Education from Syracuse University.

This recital will be held in the Huntington Recital Hall located at Capital University.
